Bochnia is a town situated on the Raba river in the borderland of Kotlina Sandomierska and Pogórze Karpackie. This location makes the town uniquely picturesque: the southern part is hilly whilst the northern part is flat.
The hills and forest cut through the town giving it great charm. The nearness of the Niepołomice Forest, the Island Beskids and Beskid Sądecki, all well-known tourist and leisure regions, further enhance Bochnia’s attractiveness.
Bochnia is located midway on the Cracow – Tarnów route, being 37 km from Cracow and 38 km from Tarnów. The town benefits from its strategic location close to an international road, the A4 motorway (E40). A national road No. 94 and a provincial road No. 965 (Limanowa – Zielona) also cut through Bochnia.
There are 7 lines of buses that belong to the Bochnia’s municipal services and the regional transport companies (Zakład Usług Komunalnych and Rejonowe Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Spółka z o. o.). Bus transportation is provided mostly by private transport companies.
A major railway, Wrocław – Medyka (E30), runs through the town. All the fast trains stop here, as well as some of the express trains. The town has good bus connections as it is located on the route between Przemyśl and Wrocław. The closest airport, John Paul II International Airport Kraków–Balice, is situated about 50 kilometres from Bochnia.
The town’s location and its excellent communications accessibility, among other things, make Bochnia, and its neighbourhood, very attractive to investors. They also create favourable conditions for entrepreneurship growth.
