A stone obelisk erected in 1957 by The United People’s Party (Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe) to commemorate the dramatic events that took place in this place on 19th August 1937.
During the peasants’ strike Wincenty Piechnik and Stanisław Święch were shot by the Navy-Blue Police.
The monument is situated on top of a hill, where the roads to Nowy Wiśnicz and Zawada diverge. It holds a plaque with an inscription which, apart from listing the names of the dead, also states “They sacrificed their blood and lives in the fight for social justice and a better future for Polish peasantry”.
