The initiators and founders of the monument were: Miriam Romm, Rachel Kollender and the Association of Bochnia Jews in Israel (2006). The monument is by a world famous sculptor from Israel – Yael Artzi. It shows the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments, broken in half and defaced, to symbolize moral destruction during the Holocaust.

את רעיון האנדרטה יזמה מרים רום, היא הוקמה בשיתוף עם רחל קולנדר וארגון יוצאי בוכניה ונחנכה ב-2006. היוצרת היא האומנית הבינלאומית, הפסלת הישראלית יעל ארצי. האנדרטה מסמלת את לוחות הברית והשבר בחלקה העליון מציין את קריסת הציווי “לא תרצח”
