In 2007, Bochnia City Council adopted a resolution expressing the intent to establish contact with the town of Borshchiv in the Ukraine. The next two years witnessed a series of official visits of delegations to both towns. The result was the signing of a cooperation agreement, in 2009, between four primary schools.
The agreement set the rules of cooperation and mutual commitment regarding: the organisation of teachers and youth exchange: the organisation of events to raise historical and contemporary awareness about both countries; increasing the awareness of cultural heritage, artistic heritage and monuments of culture and art; cooperation in terms of mass media; and promoting the languages of both nations.
Since that time the towns’ authorities and representatives of partner schools have been in contact.
